We
did not do this trip in 2009, but due to popular request we have again added it to the 2010 calendar. This is a self-drive, fully-guided
camping trail to the Makgadikgadi salt pans and game reserve in Botswana. The trail offers a rare opportunity for not only off-roading, but
to enjoy the beauty and desolation that the silence of these pans offers. This is an experience that will leave an everlasting impression on
the memory and a longing to return.
The game reserve has all possible wildlife including large prides of lion. We will be camping on the banks of the Boteti River which flowed in 2009 for the first time in more than ten years. Then there are the rhinos of Khama and the Baobabs of Kubu Island. If you have never been to this part of Botswana then this trip is for you. The sight of the huge Baobabs at Kubu will leave an everlasting impression on your memory.
Itinerary
Day 1 - Meet at Martin's Drift Border post in Botswana. After a brief stop for necessities and fuel we
drive on to our first overnight stop at The Khama Rhino Sanctuary where there is excellent game viewing.
Day 2 - After an early breakfast drive on to the pans and Kubu Island. Stopping at Letlhakane to refuel and stock up on ice.
Day 3 and 4 will be in the Makgadikgadi Game reserve where you can drive around at your leisure.
Day 5 - Travel from game reserve to Kwa Nokeng Lodge.
Day 6 - Travel home via martins Drift Border Post
Cost: R 3995 per person. Kids between 8-16 half price and under 8's are free. The cost includes two full meals per day, all camping and game park entrance fees, as well as guide and back-up fees. The fee excludes fuel and border fees as well as drinks and snacks.
29 MHz or VHF radios are a prerequisite for this trip - no radio, no trip.
Please ensure that your passport is valid for six months or more. Book early as there is only limited space. Full itineraries will be sent to those booking. We will have a pre-trip meeting to discuss in detail the itinerary and what to bring etc.

Please call the office to make sure that there is space for you on the outing before you make any payment.
